Livestream Funerals Melbourne
From 1 June 2020, the Victorian government message is shifting from “stay home” to “stay safe”, as a raft of coronavirus restrictions ease. This means there are further easing of restrictions for the funeral, wake and visiting a cemetery.
Funeral
The new rules now allow 50 mourners to attend a funeral in person as well as the people required for the funeral, such as the officiant or funeral company staff. This applies to both indoor and outdoor funerals. If a funeral is held in a home, the restrictions on private gatherings apply. This means up to 20 people are allowed. The officiant and funeral staff, who are required for the service, are not included in the limit.
Wake
Wakes are a separate event to funerals. The gathering limits apply based on the venue in which the wake is held. This means if a wake is held at a restaurant or community hall, up to 20 people may attend. If a wake is held in a home, up to 20 people – including the members of the residence – may attend.
Cemetery
You can visit a cemetery but there should be no more than 20 people (including you) gathered. Physical distance should be maintained by keeping at least 1.5 metres between people not in your household.
Some measures are still being enforced to keep people safe and must be followed at all times:
- Attendees should keep 1.5 metres between themselves and others not from their household, practice good hand hygiene, and stay home if they feel unwell.
- Limits are placed on venue capacity to ensure that physical distancing requirements are met, including total gathering numbers and no more than one person per four square metres.
- Venue operators or the celebrant are required to keep records of each person attending the wedding, funeral, or ceremony, for contact tracing purposes.
At Bell Funeral Services, we are still committed to providing the highest standard of services to our customers even with the eased restrictions. This means that we will continue to provide live streaming and video recording services for free. Updated: 2 June 2020
Under new arrangements that came into effect on Tuesday 12 May, funerals are now allowed to go ahead with these restrictions:
- Physical distance has to be maintained at all times by staying at least 1.5 metres apart.
- Indoor funeral services: maximum of 20 mourners can attend.
- Outdoor funeral services: maximum of 30 mourners can attend.
- Private house funeral service: only 5 people, in addition to people who live in the household, can attend.
The person limit doesn’t include the funeral director/staff or celebrant unless it is at a private house. Children are counted in the person limit.
Even with the eased restrictions, we understand that there are still many relatives & friends unable to attend a funeral service in person due to many reasons, such as health reasons, travel restrictions etc. Unfortunately, some of these inevitable reasons could have a long-lasting regret for those who missed out on the funeral service of a loved one. As such, we are committed to continuing our live streaming and video recording service to our customers for free at these uncertain times.
Updated: 13 May 2020
Effective from 25 March 2020, the Government regulations state funeral attendance is capped at a maximum of 10 mourners. This does not include the funeral director/staff or celebrant. With these new regulations, we are proud to announce that we will be providing live streaming and video recording service to our customers for free.
In the past, live streaming and video recording were provided as an optional extra, but now our customers can have peace of mind knowing that not only the live streaming and video recording is free, they will also get the video recording in 4k quality as a memory to safe keep and distribute to guests who could not attend the service or don’t have the appropriate technology or internet connection for streaming.
With this service, our customers can have almost the same exact service as they could before the 10-person restriction from anywhere, knowing that their extended families and friends can be with them during this difficult time via the live stream service. If the extended families and friends choose to attend the funeral or if there are more than 10 guests, we can also arrange for that so that the venue has only up to 10 people at any one time.
